Cheryl Kanekar is an actor, voice actor and comedy screenwriter, who grew up in the city of Mumbai, India and now lives in Los Angeles, CA. She has improv comedy training from Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. She loves comedy, improv, singing and playing the flute. Her comedy screenplays have made the shortlist and finals of BBC's Comedy Room, the official selection at the Nicekelodoen Writers Review & BreakThrough Readings, and the quarter-finals & second rounds at the Austin Film Festival, Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Scriptapalooza, IFilm Festival, etc.
Her urban Indian accent can sound slightly British. She speaks English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and Konkani fluently, reads and writes the Roman and Devanagari scripts, and can do some regional Indian accents in English. Her voice is warm, calm, confident and rather sing-song, when excited. Her vocal age range is 20s to 60s.
Her VO work so far includes character acting (animated comedy, audio drama) and narration (story podcasts, documentary, corporate & non-profit).
